Elke Krystufek's work is complex, slef-contradictory, sometimes shocking, forcefully confronting viewers (unless they turn away from it altogether), but it is always rich and of immediate intensity. Drawing, photography, sculpture, video and, again and again, text overlap, are justaposed, mutually influence each other, and eventually defy clear-cut categorization. In the end, this complexity and intensity is an expression of the strength and lively energy of the artist, whose intensive work for the exhibiton LIQUID LOGIC. The Height of Knowledge and the Speed of Thought is presented here for the first time; an exhibition in which the artist addresses and explores the subjects of religion and self-sacrifice, survival and the possibility of dis-appearance, collecting strategies, and her own position as a female contemporary artist in relation to the museum.
